Licinius I, 308-324. Aureus (Gold, 21 mm, 5.23 g, 1 h), Nicomedia, 316. LICINIVS - AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Licinius I to right. Rev. IOVI CONS-ERVATORI / SMNЄ• Jupiter standing front, head to left, holding Victory on globe in his right hand and long scepter in his left; at his feet, eagle standing left, head to right and holding wreath in his beak. Calicó 5113 var. (differing officina). Cohen 63. Depeyrot 22/1 var. (unlisted officina). RIC 11 var. (unlisted officina). Apparently unpublished from this officina. A well struck coin with a particularly impressive portrait. Light scratch on the obverse and with a few tiny marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
